Commonly in the Building and Construction industries, a Contracts Administrator is positioned to handle the legal side of construction matters as well as liaise between the Architect, Project Manager and Proprietor
At the start of a project, a Contract Administrator's role is to read through the contract to make sure the obligations are understood thoroughly. Trident Commercial Solutions is able to identify those advantages and disadvantages of the contract's requirements based on the scope of work it relates to. This includes the risks associated with the contract, and the conferred liability of those risks.
Contract Administrators also audit proposals, both new and existing, and develop contracts that fit the scope of each proposal. They will keep a database to track the progress of all contracts to ensure that the work is carried out with the appropriate speed, accuracy, insurances, and certifications.
When Contracts Administrators develop contracts, they liaise with many different roles, including that of the Architect or Project Manager. This is to ensure that the design ideas are incorporated into the contract before an agreement is signed. Once the agreement is signed, the Contracts Administrator role will likely turn into a Contracts Manager role.
It is also their responsibility to ensure that all contracts are reviewed and renewed before they expire. It’s a highly skilled job that requires a good understanding of the key elements of construction contracts, including formation and dispute resolution.
